The temperature rises and plants start growing. The garden comes alive after the cold winter months. Get started in your own garden already. Start dethatching the grass, create a compost heap and clean the garden furniture. That way, you can immediately enjoy the lovely weather in your own garden in spring.

Take care of your lawn
After the winter months, the lawn is in need of maintenance. Is there moss and plant debris in the turf? Then start dethatching. This can be done with a moss rake or, for larger lawns, a dethatcher. Dethatching removes moss and plant debris. As a result, air and water reach the soil. This is important because it means the grass roots will start growing and breathing again. Then spread lawn fertiliser and your lawn will be ready for spring again. Keep your lawn well maintained and cut the grass regularly. After all, grass already grows from a soil temperature between 5°C and 8°C.

Do you have artificial grass? Then rinse away any deposits with a high-pressure cleaner. Make sure that the sand lying on the artificial turf stays neatly distributed. The grass looks like new again!

Create a compost heap
A lot of organic waste material is created in the garden. Think of leaves and fine twigs, for example. You can, of course, dispose of these in the green container. Instead, opt for a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution and build a compost heap. Create the compost heap in a place with loose soil where it gets several hours of sunshine a day. Place a container about 1 metre high, wide and deep and provide aeration holes at the bottom. This allows the water to drain out and the compost to get fresh air. Tip: also use compost to improve the soil. Good for the environment as well as your wallet.

Do the garden chores
