Sun shading has an important function: making sure you sit comfortably outside when the sun shines. And the same applies under your veranda. It provides shade, of course, but also a pleasant temperature on your terrace. But of course, you also want to enjoy your sun shading for as long as possible. And the best view is a clean view. Fortunately, cleaning the blinds is very simple. We explain how to clean conservatory roof blinds in this article.
Different types of sun shading
There are several solutions for creating more shade under your veranda. Tuinmaximaal provides the following two options:
- Gumax® automatic sun shading: screens made of synthetic fabric, woven with aluminium threads, which you place under the veranda and operate per individual lane using the remote control.
- Gumax® Shading Panels: panels with slats that you place under the veranda, to block out sun on the front and side of the veranda.
You can read how to clean these two types of blinds in this article. In addition to the above products, you have a choice of roof types, including opal glass, opal polycarbonate or IQ-Relax polycarbonate for extra protection from the sun's rays. Gumax® automatic screens require minimal maintenance. This is because you mount the screen under the veranda. Still, there may be dust or stains on the sun shading screen. To clean the blinds, use the instructions below.
How to clean dust without removing fabric blinds
Dust on the sun shading screen is easily removed with a feather duster. To clean the fabric blinds, go through the following steps:
- Fully extend the sun shading.
- Then retract the sun shading until all blinds hang slack.
- Unplug the power cord.
- Using the feather duster, gently clean the top of each blind.
- Plug in again.
- Have the sun shading fully extend so that the sun shading screen is taut again.
- Then close the sun shading.
How to clean stains on the fabric blinds
To clean fabric blinds with stains, repeat the above steps and remove the stains with a slightly damp cloth, without cleaning agents or solvents. Do not fold the cloth while it is still damp, but wait for it to dry completely.

Cleaning Gumax® Shading Panel
Gumax® Shading Panels feature a Superior Coating, which provides excellent and long-lasting resistance to UV light and various weather conditions. This also makes the slatted panels very easy to maintain.
Dust is easily removed with a feather duster between the slats. These aluminium panels are best to clean with a soft cloth or sponge and lukewarm soapy water and non-degreasing soap. Do not use (aggressive) cleaning agents.
