Do you want to have a veranda installed or are you going to do it yourself? Then start with the right foundation in the form of a solid foundation. After all, a veranda easily weighs hundreds of kilos. This is especially true when you choose a veranda with a glass roof. It is therefore important that the force exerted by the veranda on the ground is well distributed. This prevents your veranda from becoming unlevel or subsiding over time. We explain the options for the foundation of your veranda.
Spot foundations
Spot foundations provide a solid base for your veranda. A spot foundation is a concrete block on which the support structure of the veranda can be mounted. It is important that the spot foundation is placed level. Once a hole has been made in the ground, a paving slab can be laid on the ground for this purpose, after which the spot foundation can be placed on the slab. The support structure is then fixed to this, so that the veranda is firmly anchored to the ground. The advantage of spot foundations is that you can immediately proceed with assembly, unlike when pouring concrete. In addition, excavation work is minimal and spot foundations have a long lifespan. If you choose spot foundations, you always have the choice of spot foundations with RWD (rainwater drainage) and without RWD. A spot foundation with RWD can be connected to the sewerage system. With a spot foundation without RWD, the rainwater drain comes out of one of the support structures above ground. The water can then flow into the garden.
Pouring liquid concrete
Are you going to install your veranda yourself? Then you can also choose to dig a hole in the ground and place the support structures in it. Once the support structures are properly set, pour in liquid concrete and let it all harden. Always ensure that no concrete ends up on the support structures. Once the concrete has dried, it is difficult to remove the concrete from the support structures and it may damage the powder coating. Also bear in mind that you can no longer move the veranda with this method.
No foundation
If your veranda is already solid enough, for example if your terrace is fully poured with concrete, a foundation is not necessary.
