No matter how young or old you are, almost everyone experiences the outdoors as pleasant and soothing. Many studies also show that nature has a positive impact on our well-being. We therefore list five reasons why you should enjoy the outdoors to the fullest!

1. The outdoors makes you happier

Being outdoors is good for you. In sunlight and bright daylight, we produce the happiness hormone serotonin. If you see less daylight for a while, for example during the dark winter months, it can definitely affect your mood. People predisposed to it may even develop winter depression. During the darker seasons, it is sometimes harder to step outside, but you will find that the outdoors has a positive impact on your mood.

2. Being outside is stress relieving

Nature sounds have a beneficial impact on our well-being. This applies to both our physical and mental health. Especially on our handling of stress, the outdoors has a positive effect. Research shows that your heart rate, blood pressure and muscle tension drop within just three minutes in a natural environment. If you want to reduce your stress or unwind completely, make sure you spend some extra time outdoors!

3. Fresh air supports your body

By nature, we are made to live outdoors. Daylight is therefore essential for a number of bodily processes. Natural light provides us with vitamin D, which maintains our resistance and supports our calcium absorption. Daylight also helps you concentrate better. So give your body a helping hand by getting a breath of fresh air regularly, for example by taking a break in your garden.

4. Outdoor air is healthier

Did you know that, on average, we spend 90% of our day indoors? However, air quality in modern homes is often poor. Homes are densely insulated and ventilation often leaves much to be desired. Human habits such as cooking, smoking and showering also deteriorate the indoor climate. Therefore, make sure enough fresh air enters your home and that polluted air is removed. Even better, of course, is to spend more of your day outside. This helps you get more fresh oxygen and purify your body.

5. Nature improves your brain function

Being outdoors is also healthy because of its positive impact on the functioning of your brain. For a start, fresh air can boost your creativity. Are you looking for new inspiration? Get outside and put your brain on edge! Your ability to concentrate also improves in the outdoors. A fresh breeze causes your senses to work optimally, allowing you to focus even better.

There are plenty of reasons to go outside. Yet taking that one step on cold or rainy days is not always easy. However, you can also enjoy the outdoors with the comforts of indoors! With a veranda, you enjoy your garden and outdoor life to the fullest, even in autumn and winter. With glass sliding doors under your veranda, you also keep the wind out, but still have full view of your garden and benefit from more daylight. Are you curious about the possibilities of a veranda?
